One of the most popular posts on my blog has been my favorite calligraphy and lettering supplies, so I'm following it up with my top 5 design tools here! I use these tools almost every day! These are more specific to design, although I use them in conjunction with my calligraphy and lettering supplies to create all my wedding stationery work!
1. Self-Healing Cutting Mat
So useful as a base for cutting paper with an x-acto knife, or measuring the center point of a piece of paper to score it, or using as a guide for envelope calligraphy along with my laser level to keep lines straight. I have two sizes - an 8.5x11 size, and a 12x18 size. Treat these well and they will last forever. I think my 8.5x11 one is from my college years!
2. Canon Pixma iP8720
I bought this printer earlier this year, and I love it! It prints straight, it prints on envelopes (even small ones), prints on handmade paper, and takes paper up to 13"x19", which is fantastic. I do not print invitations on this, but print almost everything else on it. I highly, highly recommend this printer for anyone looking to print a lot at home! If you have any questions about it, just let me know below in the comments and I'll try to answer them.
3. Epson Perfection V370 Scanner
I couldn't do what I do without this scanner. I use it to scan in all my lettering, calligraphy, and illustrations. The quality of the scan is great, and it's very easy to use. It helps me be able to transfer all of my calligraphy and paintings onto the computer to be able to use in my designs!
4. Wrist Rest
I really couldn't live without this. It helps me not get carpal tunnel! If you're on the computer for an extended amount of time, you'll definitely notice the difference. When you're on the computer all day like I am, taking care of your body is important, and this is one of the ways to do that.
5. Adobe Creative Cloud
The most obvious but the most important one! I literally could not do a thing without the Creative Suite programs. I've been using the Adobe programs since I was in early high school and I'm sure I will until someone comes up with better programs ;)
